At the boundary between the land and the sea

JOA Surveys, LLC (JOA), is an Alaska based surveying company specializing in tides and water level measurement, vertical datums and geodetic networks.

Since 2003, we have supported shoreline mapping, hydrographic surveys, bathymetric lidar surveys, and special datum determination projects in the Gulf of Maine, Massachusetts, Chesapeake Bay, Florida Keys, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands, the Gulf of Mexico, California, Oregon, the Inside Passage of Alaska, the Gulf of Alaska, the Aleutian Islands, Bristol Bay, Kuskokwim River and Bay, Bering Sea, Norton Sound, the Chukchi Sea and the Beaufort Sea.

JOA, LLC is a partnership of John Oswald, Erik Oppegard, Nathan Wardwell, Cody Mayfield and Mike Zieserl. We are always looking for interesting and challenging projects along the coast of Alaska and beyond.

NEWS

NOAA/COOPS Task 11-02

Ongoing 2011 Installation of 9 tide stations in US Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico, 2nd Order Class 1 digital leveling and GPS observations to support development of NOS VDATUM modeling.

NOAA/COOPS Task 09-06

Ongoing 2010-2011 Completed first year of contract, tides and GPS work in western Alaska including St Lawrence Island in 2011 to support NOS VDATUM modeling.

NOAA/OCS Hydro Surveys

Summer 2011 JOA will be supporting 4 NOAA contracted hydrographic surveys in the Gulf of Mexico, the Aleutian Islands and the Kuskokwim Bay.

NOAA/OCS Bathy Lidar

Summer 2011 Tides and GPS surveys to support a bathymetric lidar survey for nautical charting in the Florida Keys.

NOAA/COOPS NWLONS

Summer 2011 JOA will begin our 7th year of providing maintenance and upgrades for the NOAA National Water Level Observation Network in Alaska. JOA will perform maintenance for 10 of the most remote NWLON stations in Alaska.
